Organizations

How organizations scope data access and team membership in AccessLayer.

Organizations are the top-level boundary in AccessLayer. Team members, connectors, billing, and shared work are scoped at the organization level.

At a glance

  • You invite teammates into an organization by email.
  • Billing is tied to the organization, not the individual user.
  • Permissions are currently simple: admins manage the organization and members work within it.
  • More granular data access permissions are coming soon.
  • Dashboards are shared and accessible by anyone in the organization.
  • Chats are private to each user.

Connector scope

Connectors are attached to an organization. Any connector you add is available within that organization context.

This means the people in that organization can query and build on the same data source connections.

Inviting teammates

You can invite teammates to your organization using their email address.

Open the organization you want to manage

Organizations are separate workspaces. Make sure you are in the correct organization before inviting anyone.

Go to Members settings

Open the organization's settings and navigate to the Members page.

Send the invite

Enter the teammate's email address and choose their role.

Use admin for people who should help manage the organization. Use member for standard access.

They accept the invitation

The invited user joins the organization after accepting the invite.

Note: Invite only the people who should have access to your organization's data.

Billing

Billing is tied to the organization.

Each organization has its own billing context, which keeps plan and usage management aligned with the workspace that owns the data and dashboards.

Permissions today

Permissions are intentionally simple right now:

  • admin: can manage the organization and invite users.
  • member: can work inside the organization with the resources shared there.

More granular permissions over data access are coming soon.

Shared dashboards

Dashboards belong to the organization and are shared across the team.

Anyone in the organization can access the dashboards created in that organization.

Private chats

Your chats are private to your account and are not accessible by other people in the same organization.
